HP's highly anticipated Tablet Computer, The Slate is still only a glint on the horizon for many with no firm release date. However HP Has released a promotional video for their HP Slate which at the very least shows up how they feel about Apple's rather disappointing iPad.

    Here's the HP Video

    And Here's the Apple Video

Personally i much prefer the HP Video due to it's better choice of music and more interesting use of cuts and lighting, Apple's advert just seems like a "Yeah, It's Apple, Go buy it." whereas HP Seems to really push the boat out

btw Apple Lie in that video of theirs, pause it at 6 seconds and you notice an image at the top where his finger is, That was actually flash and we all know the iPad doesnt do flash.

  • I still do not see any point behide these things. I have heard about the Ipad, and how it can't run flash, as if that isnt the most pointless thing ever. Why not have a phone that can do all of the above, is smaller, and a hell lot cheaper.

Someone give me one up side to these, and why anyone should buy them.

    @ATgamer992 ... /Thread :P

It's a prime example of Apple's primary business model i can imagine, I could understand them bringing out the iPod and iPhone, Could understand them making Macs, But not Tablets. Tablet PCs are a technology that holds pretty much no significance whatsoever, A touch screen display is a novelty at best. For phones it's an interesting new way of controlling the device but for computers which require heavy use of typing it just isn't really worth it. Could you image your primary display being touchscreen? Typing with a keyboard is all good and well but reaching across your desk so you can use your finger as a pointing device?

Frankly, Not something that appeals to me. Maybe, just MAYBE for laptops, But not for desktops.

  • I have seen one product before that I must say was the only way I could imagen touch screen could be use full (see video below). However I could not imagen it catching on, not within the next 5 years atleast. As technology is speeding onlong, and we are coming in to a wireless world, but the downside is one very big one, and it simply is conbatibiliy. If you think about it, every computer uses diffrent types of files, programs, etc, and this is what holds us back... As there are so many diffrent types of files, connections and so on, there is no way a hand held computer could ever be able to run everything.

I know I'm going off on one but if you think about it this way... USB is the only connection which can run most things, such as mice, keyboards, printers, mass storage, OHP's, monitors etc...

But now think about all the other diffrent kinds of connections, not only cables but memory cards as well.

There are too many diffrent types and what is needed is a Universal way of doing all these things, USB was a big leap to this, but it is still not enought.

can you type documents on your phone accurately? and quickly? does your phone have a 10" multi touch screen. can you effectively browse the net on your phone?

slate pc's can do these things and more, just like a netbook per say, but smaller more stylish and cooler. but the iPad itself is a joke, no multi task, no flash and no neww OS just the iphone os thats been here for 3 4 years upscaled.

  • I do see where you are coming from but still I think its pointless.

No one in the right mind is going to cash out on one, there is no point. Like Mousey said, no matter how you set out a keyboard on a touch screen, it is nothing like the real thing. If your wanting to buy something that can surf the net etc, just buy a laptop or a notebook, atleast with them, you can download all diffrewnt types of programs to run diffrent things...

Also Taira, buissness phones can use Mircosoft word, excel, powerpoint, Mini Oprea... They also have full keyboards on the. Actually had a play on one and the nice and easy to use, if they have a touch screen on them too, and I think there still going to be cheaper then these bloody things.

I've also noticed, How convienient that Apple have placed a copyright claim on their promotional video which shows flash content being displayed. Great eye there Tai

  • I lol'd Apply have removed there video, maybe they have changed the video so it dont have flash in it anymore?

  • I have found a use for the Ipad!! (see video)
